In 1987, Kevin Murphy and Karen Karpie, who already were experienced and successful trial attorneys, founded the firm that is presently known as Murphy and Karpie, LLC. For the past twenty years, Murphy and Karpie LLC has successfully represented individuals and businesses in trials in courts throughout Connecticut. Murphy and Karpie LLC is a smaller firm that focuses solely on representing clients involved in civil lawsuits. As a small firm, clients deal directly with the attorney who is handling their case. We believe that the key to success is to be completely prepared in each step of the litigation process. We also recognize that not every case is the same and that creative solutions are often required to meet our client's goals.
Our lawyers are experienced litigators who have tried over two hundred jury trials to verdict. Kevin Murphy and Karen Karpie have practiced together for over thirty years and have an uncommon breadth and depth of litigation knowledge and experience. Michael Connelly and Robert Sickinger have been successful trial lawyers for over ten years. Murphy and Karpie LLC has also successfully handled appeals before all of Connecticut's appellate courts. We have significant experience in alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration, and are frequently asked to serve as mediators or arbitrators.

Since 2007, Connecticut Magazine recognized Kevin Murphy and Karen Karpie in its annual list of Connecticut Super Lawyers, which recognizes Connecticut's top lawyers in various fields of specialty. Kevin Murphy was recognized in the area of personal injury defense, and Karen Karpie was recognized in the area of civil litigation defense. We are also listed in Best's Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys. Our lawyers also are active in many legal professional organizations, including the Connecticut Defense Lawyer Association, Defense Research Institute and Connecticut Bar Association. Karen Karpie has served as President of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association and Robert Sickinger presently serves on its Board of Directors.
